The Director of Marketing has overall responsibility for ensuring the appropriate marketing strategies, plans, and implementation to attract BRM professionals to the Single Global BRM Community. The Director of Marketing builds strong relationships internally between the Brand team and others in membership, publications, meetings, and other key areas. The Director of Marketing is knowledgeable about program goals in order to develop marketing strategies to attract audiences to relevant products and services. Similarly, the Director of Marketing conducts research and has access to other resources to develop market-specific subject area knowledge to develop and implement relevant marketing plans. The Director of Marketing is directly responsible for developing and implementing promotional campaigns, managing external vendors, project planning and execution, budget development and management, web design/maintenance, and campaign performance tracking/reporting. This position is the primary marketing team member responsible for marketing the conference and tradeshow.

What you will do

A candidate for this position will:

  • Develop, direct, and implement marketing plans for Institute key products and services. These plans may encompass the marketing of conferences, meetings, exhibits, advertising, publications, electronic products, membership, and others. 
  • Conduct research and serve as a conduit for requisite market research and information to support the marketing goals and objectives for key products and services.
  • Manage contracted services from external vendors for such efforts as design, survey creation and analysis, market research, production, and printing.
  • Prepare and manage marketing budgets for projects.
  • Regularly provide status reports for benchmarking reports.
  • Prepare and present leadership plans and progress reports on marketing efforts for select projects.
  • Ensure that opportunities for cross-selling are created between and among products and services.
  • Collaborate with peers in Marketing and other departments to ensure that the Institute's brand integrity and opportunities are maximized.
  • Lead efforts to ensure the BRM brand is consistent and leveraged through execution and management of tradeshow marketing efforts, print ads, Web sites, collateral literature, signage, and other promotional initiatives
  • Achieve marketing goals and objectives.
  • Work with web developers to create ads and customize websites.
  • Define a strategic content marketing approach to create valuable, educational, and engaging content to help engage BRM's.
  • Ensuring high-quality messages for all content, so it is engaging and compelling.
  • Ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content and for each key target segment.
  • Work with the CBO to develop standards, systems, and best practices (both human and technological) for marketing, content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval, and content repurposing.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Social media management experience 
  • Knowledge and experience of social media platforms and best practices for marketing. 
  • Excellent people skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills and/or the ability to quickly learn new technology
  • Proven track record with strategy planning, development, and execution
  • Strong ability to form relationships and build partnerships in order to create compelling, knowledge-driven content
  • Knowledge of what makes a story great
  • Excellent time management and able to work autonomously in a collaborative, creative role
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual design skills
  • Ability to take initiative, start and execute your ideas
  • Strong problem-solving skills and detail-oriented
  • Ability to extend empathy and a desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proficient in Office, Google Workspace, Google Analytics, MailChimp, Canva, Photoshop, WordPress, and basic HTML

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years of marketing or similar experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to travel on occasion
