Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for producing content for and maintaining the association’s website(s), social media, mobile app, email newsletters, and email marketing. The manager also oversees digital advertising and assists the vice president with public relations and media relations. This role also supports the association’s efforts to improve staff recruitment and retention, grow revenue, and increase donations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures that all digital marketing solutions support the association's strategic plan and objectives
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the YMCA’s Open Y website, including but not limited to general web maintenance and content updates, third-party developer and vendor relationships, staff training on back-end processes, and working with Open Y and other associations to support platform success
  • Produces, posts, and manages website structure and content, such as blogs, event listings, Virtual Y, schedules, and webforms
  • Plans and produces email marketing campaigns and email newsletters; writes video scripts, press releases, and media advisories
  • Oversees digital advertising placement, search engine optimization, social media monitoring, data management, the mobile app, and the staff communication app
  • Develops, manages, and produces integrated digital campaigns that touch multiple online platforms for a cohesive digital strategy that may include, but is not limited to, video, email, social, text, blogs, web, mobile, and emerging channels
  • Creates and executes the digital media content calendar, ensuring alignment with the association to synchronize messaging and design across all channels
  • Trains interns and social media administrators on marketing best practices
  • Assists with pitching stories to news media and handling media requests
  • Maintains a current database of local media contacts
  • Monitors association communication channels and responds to public inquiries
  • Upholds YMCA brand standards, including voice, style, and graphics
  • Analyzes and reports on performance of digital initiatives to assess against association goals
  • Fosters a collaborative team environment with association staff and external partners


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media, public relations, or related field, and/or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications and digital marketing
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Analytical, data-driven thinker with the desire to innovate; articulates a future vision for the digital space and is highly articulate about marketing technology
  • Aptitude to own and manage projects, demonstrate creativity, and put ideas into action
  • Proficient in website management, content management systems, and customer relationship management tools; experience with Drupal 9, Open Y, and Daxko a plus
  • Proficient with search engine optimization and web analytics platforms, including Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager; experience with Google Search Console and Google My Business a plus
  • Strong skills in digital advertising, including Facebook, Instagram, and Google AdWords
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative tools
  • Ability to translate internal and external consumer data into actionable insights
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • Local candidates preferred; remote work considered
